The Names of Christ poster is the best selling of all of our Christian Posters and has been since 1994 and continues to be the top seller yet today. The names speak for themselves but I thought it might be interesting to give a little more detail to each of the names. So we are starting with the name:

ADVOCATE

The word advocate is not used very much in my world today, but when I think about it, I envision a courtroom and a judge. Simply put it’s someone being an advocate for someone else. So I decided to see what Webster had to say about it. The word advocate is both a noun and a verb. As a verb advocate means to speak or write in favor of, support or urge by argument, so says Webster dictionary, and even recommending publicly. And as a noun, it’s a person who does the same and even pleads for another, or as an intercessor, pleading for another in court of law. It hit home to me when I read that. Jesus pleading for me in a court of law. Pleading my case before God. And pleading publicly. My Advocate is Christ, who will appear before God and plead my case. Can you just image that? Standing before God and having Christ pleading your case for you.

Job says in Job 16:19 “ Even now my witness is in heaven; my advocate is on high”

In 1 John 2:1 it says “My dear children, I write to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.”

And even more powerfully Jesus says in John 14:16 “ And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever” and continues in John 14:26, “ But the advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything, I have said to you.”

One advocate is not enough for us, it takes two, Christ in heaven with the Father and the Holy Spirit inside us to remind and guide us daily. Pleading our case as we live our lives each day. So who do you say your Advocate is?
